Summary
Ready for some excitement?! Fossil Point is the SEAcret side of Avila Beach!
Heading south from Avila, the coastline becomes rugged and rocky. This magical area is known as Fossil Point and it's one of the Central Coast’s best kept secrets. Most of this area can only be explored by boat, so few people get to see it, but now you can on our Fossil Point Adventure Kayak Tour. This guided tour is our most physically strenuous tour, so kayaking experience and strong athletic ability is required. Total distance is approximately 7 miles, so make sure you eat a good breakfast!
The Fossil Point Adventure Tour is perfect for people that are interested in distance paddling and getting more experience on the open ocean. Explore the coves and marvel at the cliffs, arches and overhangs where lichen, algae, sea stars, limpets, and anemones form a colorful living rainbow. Fossil Point also boasts some of the most impressive kelp forests on the Central Coast, and you will likely see otters, seals, and sea lions. Paddling in deeper water also means that we may be joined by dolphins and if we're really lucky, whales!
Note: The Fossil Point Adventure Kayak Tour is our most athletic tour. Kayaking experience is required. This tour is not recommended for beginners or those who are not able to participate in physically demanding activities. Minimum age 15. If you are interested in a less strenuous, but still really awesome tour, we recommend the Avila Beach Adventure Kayak or Avila Beach Adventure Paddleboard Tour.
The Fossil Point Adventure Tour typically lasts 4-5 hours and the price includes all kayaking equipment, wetsuit, water, snack, and photo files from your Adventure. Ages 15 and up only, and all guests must be able to swim. $155 per person. *Due to safety concerns, pregnant women are not permitted to rent kayaks or paddleboards or participate in Adventure Tours or classes. Reservations required.
